7/8" drive Snap on Set

A 7/8" drive set. with 6 Pt sockets.  box would be late 20s.  sockets mid 20s to mid 30s.  I think it weighs about 100 pounds.  Hubby has to lift it.  There is about 17 sockets in the 6 pt. set.  I need a 1-3/8 and 2-3/4 to finish.
there are about three deeps and five 4 points.  Some stikeovers have shown up also.

i assume 7/8 is a bout 1/2 way between a 3/4 and 1 inch set!  :))

Russian nesting-style storage of the sockets. I do that as well!

7/8” drive - very unique. I’ve always wondered about the off-beat drive sizes and even fastener sizes that were prevalent back in the day.

I’m guessing many of those sizes went away during and after WWII when standardization became the norm across most industries.

I think that quality tools were just so expensive that manufacturers tried these "dual" use drive sizes to sell more tools. People couldn't afford both 1/4" and 3/8" drive sets so they came out with a 7/16" drive to cover both. That's my 2 cents anyway.
