The Long and the Short of it.

I have a few more halfers in my day-to-day box but I find myself using one of these generally. I like the braking torque on one of the 15" but for just backing a nut on or off, a 3/8 sized rat just fits in your hand.

Nice set of ratchets; thanks for sharing --

Your post reminds me of a few European friends of mine who are also car guys, but who wrench mostly with 1/2" drive socket sets. The drive size seems to be more popular in Europe, and they have quite a large selection of 1/2" drive ratchets in all manner of sizes. Seems 1/2" drive socket sets sell well across the pond, whereas in  the US most of us would grab a 3/8" drive set for most general automotive work.

Well, for 3/8's size I mostly use a stubby and for 1/4 nuts I go to a nut driver. I just like the oddballs I guess.

For the long rats, I generally like the Cornwell the best, and the Allen is a lot nicer than I thought it would be. I can't really decide between that and the Snap-on.

I am partial to long ratchets as well. If you can get an XL rat, you should try it! (If you don't already)

I have 2 long 1/2- Proto XL, Wright. 17" Cornwell flex. Snap-on SLL80A XL fixed handle just under 2' long. Cornwell XL flex at 27". I love Cornwell ratchets, the big bitch being no exception.
