A visit to the local ReStore had these classic Craftsman saws.

That would be a "buy" on my list -- did you get them Nick?

I'm not a woodworking guy and don't need them.

The bandsaw is on a homemade stand with motor and is listed at $225 with a 1-week warranty while the circular saw was $20.  Both looked to be in excellent condition.

I've seen those bandsaws cut light gauge steel and aluminum -- they were pretty darn stout. For larger jobs, it wouldn't take much to assemble a few V groove pulleys to reduce the speed.

There is a ReStore up in Reno but I have a feeling anything good there is already bought and offered on CL. I may stop there one day if I am up there for some lousy reason.

Those are nice saws and should last years more.

The Restore is really hit or miss, I have been looking at a Craftsman table saw there for a month (like I need another table saw) but something great will pop up and be snatched quick. I picked this up today for $67.50

18-inch bar, sharp, started right up and probable has an hour of use on it.

those saws are from Craftsman's heyday of good quality. I would have gotten the circular saw but I'm kinda hard on them so they're almost a consumable to me.

My ReStore is pretty hit or miss with tools but you never know what will show up there.

Band saw was too high. I have the same one, circa 1957 that I bought with motor and stand for $75 a few years ago. Sears used to sell a speed reducer as an add on for those saws. Like GF said you can speed reduce them with pulleys, or if you are not interested in cutting wood and only metal you could get a speed reduction box that does the same thing as pulleys, but without the pulleys all confined to a small box with input speed on one side high, and low speed on the output side. That is what I plan to do with my saw one of these days. I have the speed reduction box, just need the time, and need to feel more like being in the shop.

That was a great looking saw though.
You boys better hold on cause I'm gonna have to stand on it!
