Homemade razor knife clip on holder
« on: April 09, 2020, 05:01:29 PM »
You guys know I snagged a Bonney razor knife awhile back. Only thing was, it was the older no-retractable blade style. And i really didn't want to cut my pants pockets - or worse my leg! Tried several ideas, none really worked.

Then I found this ABS shop vac attachment, and adapted it to my needs. Seems to work fine!

I heated the outside with a Bar-B-Q lighter until it softened, then jammed the knife body into it to set the shape. Once cooled it was perfect! Only thing was I had to heat it so high the outside surface started to char. So I covered it over with a layer of ABS cement. Then attached one of those cordless drill belt clips, and painted to knife logo. Came out well!

Here she is finished.

Holds the knife securely - even upside down it won't fall out by shaking. Don't figure I'll actually use the thing. It was one of those "buy it because it's a Bonney" snag. But in a pinch it can be pressed into service and be usable.

I've got your next mod for this......

Take a vintage Motorola pager, and remove the back clip. Pop rivet it to your holder and ShaaaZaaam. You've got a clip-on, one-of-a-kind, gen-U-ine, Bonney custom (not yet ready for prime time), child and theft proof, safety holder.

Patent pending of course.

 ;)

That's a great idea! Have to start looking for some old non-functional pagers and cannibalize the clips.  :great:

Way to go.

Personally I'd just make one out of leather, but that's probably because I love leather and working  with it all the time
Attaching a clip can be tricky but manageable.
Always lookin' to learn

Love it, would have never thought of heating the plastic to mold it

Very creative!
