i think some people worry about what to get someone they don't know.
i have a few suggestions. mixing it up with a few items means a better chance of something they really like. something old or vintage, something new. if you like it, chances are your recipient, will at least find it useful. we have several members that like beer or cigars. who doesn't like a salty snack, especially if it is something sourced locally and may not be available in a different region.
i know muddy has always enjoyed the snacks and the like we have traded. i think he has liked some better than others but that is part of the fun. i know the pretzels he sent me last were damn good, the beer too!

I'm in!
And we'll said SK! I love trying others local food or unique items. I usually try to do that with my recipients. I usually do small things. One or two tool related things and a snack or two. Usually some family farm beef jerky.

Not really home made. Local butcher made.. .
My BIL and SIL raise steers and sell freezer beef etc. Beef sticks and jerky is one of their products.
Will definitely get some out to you!

Yeah i think the locally sourced treats is a great idea.
Doesn`t have to be a tool.
-
a nice knife, flashlight, markers all sorts of thing not necessarily tools. i received some coffee a few years back as well.
did i mention beer and food! :))
we do a gift exchange for my wife"s family. we all draw a number and pick from the pile. if you like your pick, you keep it and if you don't you steal one from someone else. at the end the one who opened first gets to keep or steal. it makes for a fun and interesting afternoon.
last year everyone brought a gift that shared the first letter of your first name. i brought a hammer. (an estwing of course). the year before it was, six pack and a pound. 6 of something and a pound something. who doesn't like a six pack of beer or pop and a pound of bacon or licorice? we also did a gift card exchange once.

I will be in this year, but cannot officially count myself in for something Christmas related yet, because Halloween hasn't even happened yet and there's another holiday still before Christmas.
I didn't used to care, but when I started seeing crappy made for TV Christmas movies airing in July and store shelves with Christmas and Halloween decorations on the same isle I just had enough.
Now I pretty much rufuse to even think about Christmas till December.
I don't hate the holiday because I quite enjoy gifting people nice things I think they'll appreciate but would never buy themselves, I just can't get into it earlier then appropriate.

I finally got everything in and made my package up to mail out tomorrow.
I also received a mystery Amazon package, I don't shop there and so I assumed it had to be a mistake or something, but it was addressed to me so I opened it to make sure.
I ended up figuring out that this was part of my Secret Santa gift.
Since it was already opened I went ahead and started eating the very delicious traditional lemon drops it contained.
Normally I'm used to Lemon heads which I enjoy but they're quite sour with tons of sugar and I can't eat too many at a time.
These are very natural and quite good, hard to stop eating actually.
Now that I've figure out the situation, I'll know when the other half of this gift arrives and can leave it packaged till Christmas..
Anyways, a big thank you to Crispycritter for so far the delicious lemon drops.
