The cigar is a nice touch. I called my wife to see this and she said the same thing I did - he looks like her dad a little. Only he sold autoparts didn't work on cars.

I think that old gent looks like a lot of the guys that we remember. In fact he does resemble my FIL to a great degree as well -- glasses, outfit, facial features, and a constant supply of Lucky Strike cigarettes instead of the cigar, and you have the FIL down to a tee. He was a mechanic working in the trade for almost 50 years.

I used to like wearing a tie, wore one every day for work and took pride in not opening the collar while wearing it. Not anymore for some reason I lost the enjoyment and now it's a chore to wear one. The interesting thing is now a tie would be odd for any of those jobs except maybe the technical instruction and even there no big deal to not wear it. Even a lot of management no longer wears one.

As a kid I recall going on airplanes and people were always dressed up - my mom dressed my brother and I in ties and sports coats to get on a plane.
People who confuse etymology and entomology bug me in ways I can’t put into words.

About the only place I wear a tie to is a wedding or a funeral.

What's the difference?

I don't see any water so what is the oar for? In many ways it was better when they dressed like that. After every trip to Wally World it makes you wish there was no such thing as yoga pants. :o

Body by Fisher ! (From Shorpy)
The Plexiglas Pontiac Deluxe Six "Ghost Car," which sold at auction a few years ago for $308,000.
June 11, 1940. "General Motors exhibit at Golden Gate International Exposition, San Francisco. Transparent Car with Pontiac Chassis and Body by Fisher."

Got some junk in the trunk.
Is the need enough? Or does the want suffice?
