Love those old vehicles.

Picture of my Dad at about 6 years old with Grandma on a trip from Wisconsin to Washington DC along the National Highway probably in western Maryland in or about 1937.

Now who can identify the make and model of the vehicle in the background?

Quick glance and some google searches suggest it is a 1936,  Hudson or Dodge,  just cant see enough of the grille.  1936 is the year many manufacturers switched from a flat windshield to a divided glass.

I grew up around a Texaco station just like the one in the picture. Everything was painted red, white or green. Except the wall in the office that had the old guys poker debts on it. I dont think anyone ever paid off on those debts, but "write it on the wall" was the common phrase for the day... Good times for a preteen kid. Wish I still had some of the swag they gave me over the years. :021:

+ 1 - had the same neighborhood station. Hung out there as a kid and just watched and learned. Loved that place - and all the folks that worked there.

I worked at a Texaco station like that when going to college, except it had two bays.  Started at 75 cents an hour and when he found out I could do tune-ups raised me to $1.00.  WOW!!

While in high school I worked at an Atlantic Richfield station which became an ARCO later. We had 2 drive thru bays and only 1 had the lift. We got to scrub the bays, aprons and islands every evening with the cleaner/soap and water before we left.
