What do y'all suppose is going on in the engine shop picture. At first I thought they were dynoing but the distributor cap is missing?

The stakebed truck looks to have been built on a cut down Pierce Arrow sedan,  about 1929 or so,  equivalent to a high end Caddy.  Great bunch of pics

And is it 2 motors or 4?

Looks like 4 to me.

My first thought was Continental tank motors but that is a guess.  Knew a guy who tractor pulled with them.

I believe those are Allison aircraft engines. Really cheap HP in the post war years. The drag boats ran them for years.

Allison, and 4 of them.

Story goes that they built it but never really ran it because they could never get traction. Not sure how much I believe that.
