We have quite a few old photos that have been digitized by my uncle and a cousin in order to save them for posterity. Some have old cars and such in them.

LOL --they were still used back in the 70's Phil. In the days of alkyd/acrylic enamels, cellulose and acrylic lacquers, these were a common sight. Modern paint booths weren't that common, and most paint jobs were done in a non-temp controlled ventilated enclosed bay with a wet floor to keep the dust down. Using heat lamps would flash the lacquer or enamel dry to the touch within 30 minutes. Thereby eliminating the chance of dust and other junk getting into the paint during a long curing process. Those things put out some heat --
