Title: Never know what you have, until you go through your garages...
Post by: oldcarguy on January 20, 2024, 07:33:22 PM

I Was going through one of my off site garages and came across another piece of OldCarGuy's Gold.  This relic is a Walker Mechanical Floor Jack # G 709. It was passed on from a great uncle about 40 years ago. Needless to say I know nothing about this Gem nor its' history. But I'd Love to hear the stories it could tell...  :cool2:

I'll bet there's a lot of collectors that would love to get their hands on that.

I have a twin to that jack. I acquired mine in the mid 1990's free. Someone slapped a nasty yellow paint job on it before it reached my hands. I recall in a moment of stupidity actually attempting to sell it for something like $20 during a yard sale about twenty years ago. 😳 I don't know what I was thinking. I am glad the guy I offered it to passed on the offer! I would not do that today.

Any chance you know the age?

I google searched the jack years ago. I don't recall having a tough time finding information about the jack. I think all I did was use the name or model  number I found on the jack and info readily popped up. I recall them being 20's-30's vintage. Model T or A era as I recall.

While at this point I have decided to keep it, that still doesn't stop me from cussing the bloody thing for the space it takes up in my stuffed 2 car garage! LOL  The only convenient way I have ever found to store the sucker is to stand it on end and lean it against the wall.
