Hey, here's a 3 year later update.
Same shed, same south facing side, but there (wait for it......coming soon......almost there........) BEE a new swarm of them buggers holed up in a spare tire I had squirreled away for a trailer or tractor. WTF! Those 7.00 x 15 tires are hard to come by, so I keep a spares on hand for various implements.
Yes, my first calls were to try and get a beekeeper to take them away, but after a dozen calls, its all a "for-profit venture" these days, running about $150, and some say they will rehome them, others make them take the long never-ending nap. Hey, what could go wrong with a DIY solution? I'm with you, and dont really want to do harm to this fragile insect.
First up...the location, and the platform of doom. The tire "bee home" is on the left side, the tire will be laid down on the platform and covered with a disc blade for soapy application through a garden hose. All with hopes of having no prisoners escape (or stings).
I head out tonight for the deed.
