sunex 1/2 low profile impact sockets - sae and metric sets
« on: September 20, 2018, 11:46:17 AM »
a couple weeks back i picked up an earthquake eq125xt ultra compact impact. it has proven to be a handy tool in use so to take full advantage oot out of it's light weight and compact size i chose to pick up some low pro sockets to go with it. i chose the asto versions and they came shipped to my door for around 90 bucks for both sets.

here is some comparison pics with i-r metric and sk sae sockets. in the smaller, middle and larger sizes. i didn't use the smallest sae  or the largest metric as the sets are very complete and  go smaller than my regular set  but don't go quite as large as some in my i-r set

notice how much smaller the low pro 1/2 drive socket on a compact impact is than my 3/8 cp and standard socket.

That is quite a difference in size, and would make working in tight areas a joy. I usually use 1/2" drive on suspension work and in many cases the impact along with the socket is too long to get a straight shot at some areas. 3/8" drive impacts will fit, but are often too weak to get the job done.

Thanks for posting -- I don't need another impact, nor socket set, but this is a solution that would be VERY convenient to have.

Very enviable Harlan. Sunex does make a real fine impact socket too in my opinion. I have been enjoying a set of 1/2" metric impacts since the 1980s myself.

thanks for the comments ub and goodfellow.

my apology in advance. you may see that i edited your posts. i did not and would not change anything that either of you said  but in my failure to proofread i wrote astro rather than sunex in my title. i only corrected the title. nothing more.
