Green Kennedy box - military?
« on: April 20, 2019, 08:36:15 PM »
I think the K-20 was a staple in Kennedy's lineup for years. This is what appears to be a factory applied olive drab crinkle paint on one? It's it's in good shape, metal handle, single center latch with pad lock hasp. Tray inside has shiny paint. Any ideas?

They did boxes in olive drab along with other colors. That is in nice condition.

Cool, I have never seen one of these in OD before. Regardless, it's a keeper. Nice heavy unit.

Very cool.

I really like the little vise that is a gem.

Ah yes the vise... I couldn't leave it behind. It says HENRY BOKER but doesn't say Germany or USA. The vise part is a hand vise, the rest looks like a shop or Smith made clamp base.

The hand vise part is handy but never seen the bracket/mount like that before.

I wouldn't have left it behind either.

I seem to have collected a green Kennedy machinist version, and a hip roofed Kenned box that was sized for 3/4" dr socket set. It  is a pleasant green color.

I have a couple of those green Kennedy boxes that I store the Barcalo tools in. A rule of thumb with Kennedy is that they used leather handles until around 1949. If the box doesn't have a leather handle it's postwar.

OnS,

I'm a fan of OD green myself.  I'm not sure what the OD attraction is, but I like it.

Plenty of room for those 3/4 dr sockets in the bottom of that "too big for a lunch pail" box.
