Bought some snap-on at auction
« on: October 12, 2020, 03:35:57 PM »
Couple of weeks ago I needed a 1 5/16 box end wrench and didn't have one.  Could not finish the job.  Saturday I went to an auction that was mostly tools--an estate sale.  There were tools and more tools and mostly snap-on and MAC.  Since I don't like to pay high dollar for tools I don't use often I didn't thinks I would buy much.  To make matters worse, everything was mostly mixed up in the piles and box lots.  They came to these mostly large snap-on wrenches 5/8" to 1 5/8" in 16ths and I figured they would go high as they are mint.  The bidding stalled at $80.00 so I bid $90.00 and got them.  And yes, it includes the 1 5/16" wrench I needed to reposition my tractor wheels.

Note, the three large wrenches at the top are McKaig-Hatch 15/16, 1 1/8 and 1/1/4 and they were included.

Oh you suck :))

Great snag.  The DBE's don't get much love from young mechanics but that is a steal.  Congrats!!

The McKaig-Hatch have a real nice hefty feeling to them.  I like them a lot

Be still my heart -- great wrenches! Like you, I was around when those DBE sets were considered to be "the best of best"; and they were well worth it.

quite the deal there. the big wrench's get spendy quick.  Those MH wrenchs will make good sacrificials for custom workarounds.

And as luck would have it I had the two wrenches to give me the 7/16, 1/2 and 9/16"  That was all the snap-on DBE I had!!

MAGA

If you can’t fix it with a hammer, it must be electrical.

I was gently poking him but half serious as well. I am sure see them as old or inferior or old hence the cheaper price.

I know that pattern wrench is sought after by some for good reason. Much like I seek out bonney made wrenches.

The young guys look at them like elroy looks at barcalo wrenches. :))
