I know very little about Marx trains. Marx had some great accessories though that play well Lionel size wise. Quality and detail wise, American Flyer was no slouch. I had never even seen Flyer trains until 10-12 years ago. About that time I added a basic vintage AF set that was just stupid cheap.

I really want to setup a layout in my basement incorporating all the O & O-27 stuff, the S gauge stuff, and a massive gauge slot car set that I have been sitting on for some years too.
You boys better hold on cause I'm gonna have to stand on it!

American Flyer was great stuff, probably closer to scale model railroading than Lionel, but Lionel was just so popular that AF just never got much traction.

That's going to be some layout. Using forced perspective you can make it all work togethor nicely but will require a lot of space.

My O gauge equipment is all Lionel: O, O-27, Super O, & O-72. It's all in storage but once upon a time there was a 162 sq. ft., 2 level layout where it all worked togethor. I have an upcoming opportunity to run anything I want on a scale layout with 3 rail Gargraves track. I'm in the process of choosing an engine(s) to clean up and test so they are ready to go.

Thanks for that info.

Hey 30-40

Got those window regulators installed? Welcome to the GG, small world. :coffee2:

Well Hello Pep!  I have them "mostly" installed.  I need to shorten them to get the motor some clearance.  It rattles against the door.  I am about to retire and then move it all to New Mexico.  Should be fun.. LOL

No. I went from Mass. to work in New Mexico to help a friend who I had worked with in the mid 90's.   He was the Project Manager and his assistant was a cocky young man.  Being stupid and cheap, he tried to reuse a chemical storage tank and caused an explosion.  He was killed and some others hurt.  I went in an essentially picked up the pieces and got the project up and running again.  We were there for almost 3 years and by the time all the lawsuits were settled I was unemployed! LOL..  I landed on my feet in a project in southern Indiana.  Then later we moved back to New England.  About 7 or 8 years ago my wife is looking online and gets all excited saying "IT'S FOR SALE over and over. I said what's for sale?  She says our old house! I said HUH???  Long story short we bought back the house we owned in New Mexico 'cause she loved it there. We've been renting it out since and now we'll move back in September.

The wife saw a ground squirrel eating tomatoes off a plant on the back deck yesterday. A neighbor brought a live trap over today and I baited it with peanut butter and honey and it was caught in the trap within 45 minutes. It died and I don't know if it had a peanut allergy or lead allergy. It is now in the ditch on the far side of the property and something will grab it before morning. Trap is reset to see if there is more than one. >:(

Around here, I always give them a bath in a mortar tub before I let them out of the live trap.  It seems to calm them down.
