Christmas Time Stories
« on: December 17, 2018, 01:33:05 PM »
My wife and I decided to limit what we spend on presents this year. It's 100 for me and 500 for her.
People who confuse etymology and entomology bug me in ways I can’t put into words.

We had our Experimental Aircraft Assn. Christmas party last night at the airport terminal. We had it catered and did a gift exchange. Everybody who brought a present got a number and then we drew numbers and the person would go up and select a present. We limited the item being stolen by another person to one time for each gift. When your number was called you could select a gift off the table or steal the gift someone else had previously selected if it hadn't already been stolen.

My number was called towards the end and I took a gift off the table and it was a Channellock cordless screwdriver with quick change bits. Two draws later that got stolen from me so I selected another gift and ended up with a pair of nice LED flashlights. Those were then stolen by the last number called. I then had the choice of taking the last gift on the table or stealing someone else's. I selected the gift on the table and ended up with a cool coffee cup. It is a good size mug with an insulated rubber bottom that means the cup won't get cold if I set it on one of my metal work benches. It also says " What happens in the garage stays in the garage" which is pretty cool.
Our member who was calling the numbers was first pick and he got his gift stolen about 8-10 times. Among the gifts he lost were a Red Ryder BB gun, a slingshot made from a deer antler, 2 sets of ratchet straps, a bottle of Fireball whiskey and finally got to keep a multitool. At the end people are free to negotiate a trade with the others. It really livens up the gift exchange but takes plenty of time if there are a lot of people. We have allowed an item to be stolen 3 times in the past.

I asked the wife what she wanted for Christmas. I got "nothing". I told her that was good with me and I didn't have to shop this year. ;D I did buy her a new vacuum sealer tho. I may have to wrap it up for Christmas morning. ;D ;D
