Growing up we had 5' stick of cheater pipe we would use before the hot wrench came out. After an incident that involved an abrupt contact between my head and the pipe I have chosen to not use the pipe any longer  :D

I learned early on from my dad and grandpa that heat was the ultimate weapon. Dad had an O/A set always at the ready, and he had no patience for stuck fasteners or parts. The torch was his favorite go-to option when dealing with rust. I was always amazed how he could handle that thing with such precision and not burn the surrounding area to a crisp. Grandpa was even better at it -- he was a "surgeon" with a cutting torch.
