When I was a youngster we used to go to Harlingen to the Confederate airforce shows. They had a B29 that was the only one flying at the time. certainly left a lasting impression in one young mans memory. I seem to recall there may be another one flying now. Truly beautiful aircraft.

If you ever get a chance to go see these old war birds, its worth it. Its amazing how small the planes are inside. and how spartan they were. The old guys who rode those off to war were certainly a greater generation.

The B-29 in the video is Doc. That plane had been sitting at the China Lake range in CA in the desert east of the Sierras along with many other B-29's that had been used as targets. It was pulled out of there in 1998 as it was in the best shape of the remaining aircraft after Tony got title to it. It was trucked to Wichita in 2000 where it had been originally built and restored by many dedicated people.

The story is here.
