Yesterday I ordered a new pair of the justin conductors I currently wear for work, and got an email that they were out of stock and the size is being discontinued and they were refunding me.
Tthat total was $210 shipping included which was too much compared to the $169 I scored the last pair for from workboots.com, but it was I thought my only option left for a black traditional American made work boot.
Well I went back on Google to see what I could find and what do you know I found a nice pair of recently discontinued Chippewas in my exact size on clearance from $200 down to $99 from the place that refunded my money minutes earlier
I did a quick search online and they are American made, and the regular price was right on
Everything worked out great, because I got a higher quality boot ( Justin's are fine, but the leather is a bit looser in grain ) for half the price
I've been wanting to try a pair of Chippewas and this was just the opportunity, too bad I won't be able to get another pair if I like them.
I had originally thought I'd be able to get my Justin's resoled, but last winter before I had my boot dryer they got wet a lot and wounded up with a damp sponge kind of smell I can't get rid of.
If I take better care of these they can get resoled, with a Goodyear welt it's a one day thing.
They just peel the outsole off and glue a new one on.
I've learned that the Obenauffs heavy duty LP just wasn't quite enough for my needs if you don't reapply offen enough , this time I'm gonna go with SNO-SEAL.
