A cool tool to cut circular gaskets
« on: August 22, 2018, 10:04:14 PM »
Found this at a second hand store years ago and paid next to nothing for it. Set the radius of the circle you want to cut, drag it around a few times and the O.D. is cut. Set the radius of the I.D. drag it around a few times and the gasket is made.
The little one on the right side will cut the O.D and I.D at the same time using two cutters at once.

Pretty regular to cut out larger diameter circles, then use a gasket punch set to cit out the bolt holes. I used it the other day to cut a 5-1/4" O.D 4-7/8" I.D. gasket for a P/S reservoir lid on a semi. Way better than scissors  ;D

Anything is better than scissors. The guy that taught me taught me with the ball end of a ball peen on the edges of the part. But I can see the advantages of a tool like that quite clearly.
