AN-225 cargo jet destroyed

It looks like Russia took out the world's largest cargo jet, the 6 engine AN-225 at it's home in the Ukraine. The estimated cost to replace it is 3bn USD which the Ukrainian gov't said Russia has to pay for.

That is/was an amazing heavy lift plane.

I just watched a YT video about it.

I have seen the AN-225 twice.

First time was in 1989 when I attended the Abbottsford air show.  Got to visit with a couple of the crew.  Photos do not do it justice.

Second time is when it landed here in Wichita.  It was transporting some type of equipment for a refinery expansion.  That was back in 2012 I think.

One of the many casualties of this conflict!

Well I was not going to believe it until I saw some photos of some actual wreckage, mainly due to the propaganda coming out of Ukraine from both sides. Unfortunately these have just been posted on a fairly reputable aviation website.  :'(
