A little out of my normal...
« on: December 13, 2022, 05:40:46 PM »
1966 Rambler Classic, bought from a friend to flip.  A bit sentimental as my grandfather had a Rambler of similar vintage and colour scheme back in the late 60s/early 70s.

Solid body, fresh paint, original straight 6/232 ci, strong arm steering and manual brakes but she runs and drives.

She's a beauty Clay! Those cars bring back a lot of memories. Lots of neighborhood dads drove stripped down Ramblers, Valiants, Novas, Falcons etc., back in the day as their work commuter vehicles; while their wives drove the more luxurious family station wagons to shop, and shuttle kids and their equipment all over the place.

Is the need enough? Or does the want suffice?

My grandpa's was also blue with a white roof, although the shade of blue was a bit lighter.  It's the first car I remember him with, finally trading it in on a 1980ish Malibu, so it sure does bring back a lot of memories for me.  I might need to find a fedora to wear while driving it :-D

Thats a cool old ride. It must be getting trendy to sport about in a more door car, Sure see a lot of them on the road now. You should have no problems selling that.

We had a 6 cyl Rambler wagon, with OD.  On one trip it pulled 27 mpg!   Stayed in town after we traded, when last seen it was touching 280,000.   Be nice for one more ride in this sedan.

My grandfather had a Rambler wagon. (Not sure of the year)

He always said he hit a witch with it and that's what caused all our family car troubles! :))

Mileage and asking price?

93,000 miles showing, asking $6900 Canadian so just a touch under $5100 USD.  No idea if the odometer has been clocked, but considering the overall condition of the car I think this is still the first time around.

That's a more than fair price IMO.

I regret selling my 1963 Rambler Classic around 1986. It was my grandparents and I inherited it. Always garage kept, totally rust free with add on underdash air that worked great.

It was a straight six that was so slow with a top end around 60 mph. I sold it to a coworker for something  insane like $600-800. I have regretted selling it for years. Great car in the snow and built like a tank. Was the Motor Trend car of the year in 1963.
