Need to Mount a Lazy Susan Ring vetically

I need to support about 20 pounds maybe less on a wall and be able to rotate it. Can I use a standard LS bearing or do I need to get something special? What do I need to know to even get started?

i assume you mean the ring type that is 8 or 10 inches in diameter.

i don't see why not as long as both the mobile and immobile parts have sufficient "heft" for the fasteners to bite into.

I think the lazy susan bearings are meant for compression loading. they may not hold very much in tension.

Exactly. It's a framed picture but has no defined top or bottom so I want it to be able to be displayed with any side up. The art piece is valueless but the frame and museum glass were pretty expensive.

That's kind of what I'm afraid of. I have visions of the two parts separating along with a shower of ball bearings.

i just did a quick google search. i just saw some heavy duty 16 ones with a load capacity of 225 lbs. i would guess if they take 225 lb  horizontal load. they would have t assume they can handle some side load. after all  if it has 225 lb load it likely needs to have some ability to handle an off center load.

Possibly a different solution, attach a thin french cleat across the top & the bottom of the back.  Attach the other part to the wall.  Quick and simple to lift & invert.

Just reread your post- "any side up"  add 4 cleats

Thank you for the response and it's a good idea but the guy that's getting it wouldn't be able to move it and rehang.

I'd be thinking a long the lines of a wheel bearing. might stick out a bit , maybe one of the newer style sealed bearing that doesn't have such a spindle to it. my mind sees that bearing shower when the "wrong(right)" person does the moving of the painting. I guess I know how I was when I was a youngster. there would be that certain someone who will want to see it spin. let me think some more. mounting it to the art and wall will be the real "exciting" part.
