I bought this early in 2019 from a guy I had just bought a small welding table from. He had said he had other stuff for sale in this big building that was somewhat open to the elements. I saw this Wilton and asked about it and he sold it to me for $75. I call the before version the Shipwreck Vise because it looks as if it was sitting underwater for several years. And the after version the Halloween or Pumpkin Vise for obvious reasons. It worked before I have took it apart and gave it a light restoration. I did not take everything apart, never took the end cap off, got one of the vise jaws off but the other one will take some doing. I don't know why they had the jaws set up like this, I'm assuming for a specialized purpose.
Anyway, here it is...more to follow

All in all a fun little project. Once I figure which bench will get this one, it will be a user, and I would like to get the proper jaws for it, at a good price.
Now how do I dispose of grimy white vinegar? Seriously?

Excellent job! Love to see that old iron lovingly restored to its former glory. Like the color as well.

amazing! i like it!

Excellent!

What size jaws? I have a set of jaws off an early C1 (4.5") that aren't too rough.

Actually they are 4 1/2"

I pour my vinegar and salt solution into a big pile of compost and let the microbes at it.
Nice job on the vise boyo , i love projects like that.

Let me dig them out sometime and get the dimensions.

Thanks, Grayson. The color is Kubota orange.

Very nice job on that Wilton. With that great color you will never accidentally run into it. As far as the grimy vinegar I would strain it through cheesecloth to get the chunks out and mix some Dawn detergent with it and flush it. You can dilute it if you want.

After I painted the AllisChalmers tractor I wound up with a quart of paint left over..and several orange tools :lol_hitting:
Nicely done.
The vinegar is pretty benign, should be fine to just dump it down the drain. Unless your on a septic system, otherwise down the sink is fine

Wow, that turned out far better than I thought possible from first pic. Well done

Awesome old vise there.
I truly want a better vise than I have, but I just can't justify buying another until the current one stops working.
-
Thanks to Greyson I got a couple of new (used) vise jaws in the mail the other day. I replaced the jaw on the dynamic slide, the other jaw will be trickier as there's an obstacle in the way of one of the screws.

Looking Good!

ohhhhh that's my color!

is there a date on the "key" ??

Turned out great. I am sure you can get OEM jaws for that. HJE sells Wilton vises new and I bet you could get jaws from them.
