Found a Bonney ratchet!
« on: June 05, 2019, 03:14:16 PM »
Even a blind squirrel finds an acorn once in awhile! A 1/4" drive, buried in a box of junk. A bit rusty and sticky, but I think it'll free up. Really nice chrome, other than the owners mark it looks clean. $1

It's proving to be a little *expletive deleted* getting apart, but if you need one, I might have another spare sitting in a tool box somewhere.

After a JAFE juice soak for an hour i finally managed to get all the pieces out. One of the pawl pins is damaged/out of round, so it's slo and go sanding to get it to slide in the pin channel smoothly. Ran out of time today - next 4 days I've got house projects that got to get done. So, it might be next week before I get this cutie functional.

It took some time but finally got the ratchet operational. Come to find out the internal forgings aren't very finely finished, so the littlest bit of misalignment or grit in the wrong spot will cause a malfunction. Filing, de-rusting, and a thorough cleaning solved the issues. Then I slapped a stub of fuel line on it to give it better grip and cover up the worn knurling.

Here it is next to its 3/8" brother, ready to be thrown into the work rotation.
