Snap-on sockets???
« on: June 25, 2019, 07:03:51 PM »
I have four old 6 point sockets that are marked S over O and the size.  Are these snap-on and if so how old are they?

A large s stamped over a smaller o is more thanl likely  what is called an overstrike snap-on. Very early production.

They should also also have a knurled band around the center section of the socket.

Here is a picture, yes it has a large S stamped over a small 0.  Sizes are 9/16, 5/8, 25/32 and 13/16.

The overstrikes are very early 20's and no later than 27 as date codes started in 27. The very first were not marked at all and then the overstrikes. They'll be celebrating their 100th birthday very soon.
