Homemade pickup tools
« on: April 06, 2021, 04:21:43 PM »
I tend to accumulate plastic handles, and I purposely grab any aluminum or stainless steel handles and rods I come across. Was out in the shop today examining my existing grabber tools, and thought of two ways to make them better.

I had this magnetic sensor out of a Ford - it had a pretty strong magnet. So I attached it to a 2 foot aluminum rod I had. Almost looks store bought!
Also had this long reach tool I had made, and I decided to add a stiff wire to the end of it for a 5 foot long reach filter grab tool. In the past I've used old bicycle spokes for these kind of pick-up tools (as I never throw anything out!) as they have a pre-bent hook on the end. But I've already got one like that, so, used the steel wire scrap on this one.

Thanks Muddy!

I also have a pair of "donut" magnets I got out of a microwave. Things hang in my van waiting to be used.   :great:
