Have you been vaccinated?
« on: April 28, 2021, 08:02:41 AM »
Curious to know if you've gotten the vaccination yet, and if so, have you suffered any symptoms?  The consensus seems to be if you have any issues, it's after the 2nd shot.

I haven't yet, myself.  Still gathering information and want to know what short term effects there may be.  I know a lot of frontline healthcare workers didn't get the vaccine in the beginning and am wondering if that's changed?

I have been with the Moderna. The specialist that I am seeing told me point blank if you get Covid you are dead. I had to weigh the odds of dying from Covid or the Vaccine and I feel the choice is a purely personal one for a person to make. I was hesitant until my sister who has a PhD in nursing directed me to watch a doctor breakdown and explain really well how the vaccine functions. She and her husband got the vaccine long before me and they are older and fine after getting it.

After the first shot I could feel where I got it for about a day and then that went away. After the 2nd shot it was about the same and so far I have shown no other side effects even though I am truly compromised health wise right now. Will I regret getting it? Who knows but I am going forward with life and working on getting back to 100%.

i have had my shots and  i had the moderna. the first shot was the last week in december and the follow up one month later. almost everyone in my family has been vaccinated with no ill effects.

i don't take much stock in anyone who tries to tell you how most people react. i have talked to at least 100 people in depth about their reaction and have heard it all. some  feel bad right away, some the next morning and some 24 -36 hours later. some never at all. some run a low grade fever for a few hours, some for a day or 2 and some not at all. some have no effect on the first shot, some on both, some no effect on the second and some no effect at all.

my wife, my mother, my  oldest  and youngest son and i have all had moderna and every one of us reacted different.

my wife (55)ran a low grade fever and felt sick for about 6 hours the day after both.

my mom (91) went home and slept for about 24 hours after each one but never was sick.

my son (26) felt crappy for for about 36 hours on both.

my son (21) felt run down but has only had his first shot so far.

i  (55) was tired and slept all day, 2 days after each one.

my mom was not known to have covid but the rest of us did. my oldest son was quite sick for about 5 days. my wife showed very few symptoms. mostly sore throat and sinus pressure. my youngest son and i have antibodies but don't know exactly when we had it.

what am i trying to say?  everyone and i mean everyone reacts different.  for me the deciding factor is this. i know people who died from covid. i know people who were very ill from covid. i know people who still have not fully recovered from covid and more than likely never will. i bet most of us do. i don't know of anyone who has had serious, long  lasting side effect from the any of the vaccines.

is it 100% safe or effective? nope, but what is? life is full of choices and chances and at the end of the day you have to make choices and take chances or you don't have much of life.

only you can decide what is best for you but i am happy with choices we have made.

Nope, nope, and nope. The Mrs. and I are not getting the "vaccine" because we are not sure of it's efficacy or safety. I take reasonable precautions but am not going to hide in a dungeon because I might catch the virus. And if they mandate a vaccine passport then I'm definitely NOT getting the shot.

My primary sent a letter out saying it was safe, and he and his whole family had gotten it. This from the guy who complains about my triglycerides, and - after I drop them 78% with diet alone - all he can say is "they're still too high". I'm seriously considering dumping the doctor.
Ads on TV and radio are constantly pushing everyone to get vaccinated. Hollywood celebs and the most political figures are always pushing it. Just like other fake or garbage items - if they are so good why would you need to push them?

I've read about the science behind the "vaccine" and though I am no expert too much sounds rushed and fishy. I know people have died from the flu vaccine but geez too many people have gotten really bad effects or died from this shot. I'm not taking the risk.

I had my first shot. I'm going for my 2nd shot this afternoon. I don't plan on doing anything tomorrow in case of side effects.  I don't think there will be any problems.

When asking about post-shot symptoms, the first question should be what vaccine did you get, as that determines the reaction.

Mine was Phizer. No issues with either shot. Temporary injection site soreness in the arm that was very tolerable with the first shot, and not really worth mentioning. I was still able to lift and consume frosty adult beverages with that arm.

I didnt cry with either shot, they were most impressed by that display of braveness.  :o  Simply put, I didn't feel either one.

No shot for me and I doubt I will. I did test positive for the antibodies so Im not real interested in it.

Dad who is 65 got both shots (dont know which one) and was sick in bed for 3 days afeter each one. He also had confirmed case of the coof via a blood test.

My 87 year old grandmother had both shots with 0 side affects. She is convinced they give her sugar water instead of the shot.

Pfizer, both shots, no issues other than tired, arm never hurt either time.

Wife , both shots Moderna, first no problem, second got a fever for about 12 hours, she was freezing cold and then it went away just like that.

I'm gonna pass if they let me. The place I work at is pretty heavy handed at these things, but I already told them that if they make me take it, that I want it on my record that it was a requirement for my employment. That bought me some time.

I'm not one of those antivaxxer nutjobs. I can see the benefits of getting vacinated for the polios and such but I want a little more time on this one before I consent to it. Just the fact that some people have issues kinda alarms me a bit. Although I do think the reason J&Js was pulled for a time was that the right palms weren't being greased by J&J.

I honestly believe that this virus was over hyped for political reasons. I remember the first videos coming out of China showed people falling out on the streets. We never had that here. it took days of lingering illness before it got that bad. Now that the protocals have been improved the survival rate has increased dramatically. My allergy Dr. and I were having a discussion about this, he was so happy that the masks mandates had kept the flu rate down but was concerned about the escalation of covid cases. I asked him to look up the hospitalization rate for those covid cases, @0% in our hospital. So yeah cases may be spiking but deaths aren't. From what I'm seeing now most folks dont even know they have it till they get tested.

i get it if people don't want to get the shot. i respect it if they have a reason. i do question some of the reasons but it is still their choice.

pretty sure my son got it at work. he is a paramedic in fargo for the largest ambulance service in the state. he was doing 5-7 covid related  calls a day. many he knew wouldn't make it. he saw too many seemingly healthy people have it bad. his advice to me was get whatever shot you can as soon as you can. i wasn't in that big of a hurry until i went on a sketchy call of my own as an emr. scared the crap out of me and decided short order i was going to get my shots.

No and not planning on it either.
Is the need enough? Or does the want suffice?

Maybe one day. I'm in no rush for it. I don't have any strong feelings either way. I get both sides of the isle. Considering my age and fairly strong immune system I'll wait.

I haven't really researched it, but can anyone tell me why it takes 2 doses?

Got my first one (Pfizer) with only a sore arm.

My wife has received both hers (Moderna) with flu-like symptoms the day after both shots.

I received so many shots during my military time I'm probably already immune!
