Title: Clauss dykes. Need a replacement spring
Post by: wantedabiggergarage on July 14, 2022, 10:38:20 PM
Anyone ever found/made/etc. a replacement spring for those pliers that have a hole in them with a wire spring between the handles?

A wire torsion spring or standard wire coil spring ?

Spring assortments can be found,  but if it's a torsion spring you'll need to make one out of some piano wire.

Personally I don't like spring loaded pliers, so I'd forget about 8t if I hadn't already taken the spring out.

Not the standard coil springs, as I am only used to those on tiny electronics type of pliers.  Tried Clauss and they say no parts are available (even though it is probably still the same spring as on current models).
I've never had/used a pair with them, and since this is the first ones I've owned with the spot, just wanted to try it.

If this picture is like what you have the spring is too stiff for the dykes.
