I will ask my wife, she grew up in Oroville/Orland/Chico back in the '70s and her dad may have taken her somewhere like that.

Asked her, and she remembers an independent feed store in Orland, but no name. Not sure if that helps.

Grew up in Sonoma County area and "Coast to Coast" hardware stores was a big chain back in the early 1980's. I think through a couple of mergers, they all eventually became True Value stores. They sold a lot of what TSC sells today.

Visiting my uncle, and he confirmed that it was in fact Big R.

I guess my dad was remembering right

Big R carries a bit of everything for the ranchers, farmers, gentleman ranchers and the home. We used to drive just about 2 hours to get to a Big R but now one is only 1-1/2 hours away. Had to go there before we got TSC.
