If you're answer was no, then you haven't watched this video yet.  :33:

I must warn you that what you're about to see just might bring tears to your eyes  :03:

I think that is mega cool.  I have no problem with him sacrificing that plomb to make a unique dagger.

The original question was obviously asked by someone who has never gone through a divorce........

As much as I love my Plomb tools that was very cool to see. No wonder that ratchet didn't work as it was totally dry inside when he took it apart.

I've got a short list of about 4 or 5 that qualify.

Just for clarification: there are no tool brands on that list! :lol_hitting:

I find that putting effort into such a one sided endeavor is a waste of my time. That person or persons is/are probably not even aware enough to know or care about your feelings.

Much like the individuals who worry about hoarders and others who happen to have a vehicle, or other possession that is theirs that the individual "thinks" should be sold/given/ or other wise transferred them as this item is "going to waste".

Keep moving forward. Learn all you can, and help others to get what they want.

I don't care if the ratchet worked or not, I just love the end result.

I guess I just feel that there are so many other things you could make something as impractical as a throwing knife out of than a vintage ratchet.

He destroys vintage wrenches of all kinds to make stuff like this, and I'm definitely glad I can choose not to watch his channel but I just wish I didn't know he was doing it.

Didnt watch the video yet. While i get where you are coming from he didnt destroy anything terribly rare or for that matter valuable. If he ruined one just to ruin it then yes but it appears he made something nice adn of good quality. Call it  a tribute maybe?

watched the video. that dude has some serious patience and skill working mostly with a belt sander. i woul be proud of that knife. maybe a little hard to watch but he made a very visually appealing item. he has a vision to see things where others can't.

My real issue that he's destroying tools I would rehab and put to use just to make less than practical things that he could make out of so many other materials.
These are tools that many of you with opportunities to go find them at good prices in the wild might not think much of, but for me opportunities to find such tools in the wild are few and far between and prices on Ebay are getting higher each year.

He has some real tallent for sure, I just wish that if he really gas to use it on tools that he use ones that are too far gone.

Didnt bother to watch it, you guys spelled it out pretty well.   I do make knives on occasion,  and have considered using a rusty or broken combo end wrench, but I would never post a video of the process.

Not any different than the people who cut up nice original cars to make them into "custom", low riders, giant wheels and wild lifted 4x4 and such. Or the flippers who gut to the studs nice old homes and install the latest chicom fixtures and cheap dry wall, or just bulldoze it and build something new from the ground up.

I have to say i didn't watch the vid. I'm sure it is akin to the chopper motor cycle guys who seemed to destroy a lot of stuff along the way., They obviously liked doing it and were making the coin to fund it.

That guy does too. It is only stuff. Collect up what you want and can afford and enjoy it, you know, the way you want. And hey, a nifty plomb or even craftsman knife might be a good addition.

I too make knives from time to time, but only use things that are beyond saving when I'm not just using worn out files.

I have a five gallon pail of old wrenches that lack user value.  No market for them beyond weight value.

It is only a matter of time before they get scrapped, just not during my watch.

Whatever happens to them hopefully is more use than I will ever get from any of the antique crap.
