Seems like a convoluted way to help people buy a house.  I have no problem with giving someone a hand, and we all will pay for it some way, but putting it on other people's mortgage instead of taking it out of the general fund seems crazy.

I did read about it elsewhere and the article IIRC seemed spin it worse then it really was, so take it with a grain of salt
