tool tote oops moment
« on: October 14, 2018, 10:15:23 AM »
Tool tote oopsy is not to be proud of but the tote is.

I assembled the strut and tightened it all up and went to set down the Seinna van.

It didn't set down as I forgot to pull out my tools.
Lifted it back up and pulled out the tote.  It took a light curve to the handle and sets flat on the floor now.

Now you have an extra stand if you're short one.

It held ok on a static load but if any side stress was involved its a write off.

I will attempt to keep it in tote only mode.

Maybe you could make three more and have a set of tote stands.

He has at least five of his seven regular non tool tote stands in the shop most of the time.  Usually no need to fake it.  Only once did the neighboring shop have all them and come ask for more.

No more tote stands will be made.  I ran out of materials.

Cinder blocks are OK but I try and put safety first.

For lack of any better ideas a book was laid on the sheet and traced around.  Then the sides marked and cut for 4" walls over a 9x12" floor.
Really just to see if it would be useful or not.  Open top access has well known problems.   Then once at work an unceremonious dump of tools from the other tote to this one.

I really did not bother to consider quantity nor weight at all.  And it was big enough with better access to most used (difficult access to least used also) if nearly completely disorganized.

The next I made was 7 X19" with 4" walls but have not done a follow up with the owner.  See if he hates it and how much.

Living experiments not based on science, needs nor faith  but more because I was bored sunday afternoon.  Lol!   I could be great at designing new Dodge cars!!!!
