Frustrating for sure Phil. Technology often makes our frustration levels go ballistic.

Yep, darn laptop couldn't drink 1/2 a cup of coffee and survive.  I think it was the caffeine that killed it :))

There was quite a lot of low hazy cloud on the horizon spoiling the potential for good photos.

After breakfast at a nearby cafe and a stop to take a photo of the sail traing ship Spirit of New Zealand, I headed south and stopped to catch up with my old neighbours.

As I was leaving there a mate of mine posted on FB "Co Driving in this Beast today.. little bit Excited" and a photo of another friend's track car. As there was only one place it could be and it was on my way home, I stopped in for a look.

It's a real race car, it has air jacks.

Maclaren 570S GT4, a factory built race car.

When I asked for directions to the pit lane garages I got told "Just follow the blue line".

Is the need enough? Or does the want suffice?

Yes, a lot of the "touring car" type classes have them.

Note how tall the cells are. That is to get full size transporter trucks under the track. The track is directly above and is the end of the pit straight, from here it drops about 26' in about 500' in a right hand turn onto the back straight. Richard was saying that at that point in the GT4 he is doing around 255km/hr (160mph). How big your brass ones are determines how late you leave the braking into the corner.

Passenger side wasn't as tore up as you would think.  And lots of vids from other drivers cams with comments.  Great stunt, and not illegal.

As to slot cars, had a large HO track when I was a kid and tried to make sure each lane had its fair share of outside corners to make it fair.  Neighbor and I both had nice HO tracks and collections.  Wasn't till we aged out that the new cars were stupid fast and relatively tricked out when new.

Exactly that's the reason for a crossover or figure 8. had 1/32 Fleshman set had a banked curve fun stuff. I get to old I will build another.

Slot cars are digital now, but they take away from the challenge. Have a bar magnet at the rear keeps the car from fishtailing ...... what fun it is that takes a weapon away from the drivers.

Yes I know it is legal for now, and with that. I say the race will/could become worth the time. Watching the copycats get into the fray. That was the only clip I saw you have other links to pictures, and videos please post some, inquiring minds (?) want to know.
