Some I inherited from my dad, but most were purchased off the truck in the late 60's and early 1970's. Back then, they were some of the most popular mechanics tools. The wood handles feel secure and comfortable even when covered in grease and oil, and once you get used to the feel, nothing else even comes close (not nitrile, plastic, or slicone).
A few years ago I was lucky enough to find some brand new stock and bought the entire set -- so now there are spares. I've old Snap-on, Sears C-Man Pro's, and MAC and Challenger plastic handles, but I sure prefer these darn old "woodies".

One of these days, I'm going to reach into my PROTO woodie collection, and put those out on display in the garage and have them as my "on the pegboard" set to use.

I only have a couple of woddies but you're right, they are nice!!

There's something classy about wooden screwdriver handles.
I bought myself a set of these and sent a couple out as gifts last year. Very nice feel to them.

I think if snappy had made wooden hard handle screwdriver sets, they would have sold like hotcakes.

I like that design very much Greyson! The fact that the shank goes through the handle and includes a striking cap is a premium design idea. The old US woodies were very susceptible to splitting if you hit them on the handle with even a slight blow.

Yah that's nice and I wish more would do it. Everyone knows "NOT TO BE USED AS A PRYBAR CHISEL OR PUNCH" is just challenge accepted!

i so want a set of those felo drivers.........
they really are not priced that beads either. i think fleet farm has them for less than 30 dollars. may even be less than that. end caps, wood handles and hex bolsters. what's not to like?
-
Thanks Greyson, just what I need more screwdrivers. I will put them on the wish list.

I looked up the fleet farm set and I think Felo has changed the handle shape and ferrule since christmas time. Why do companies always have to go and screw with a good design? Still a good buy at $22.
