Took Elroy nearly 12 years to close the deal on this factory nickel, 1949 vintage snub nose M&P.

It has been indicated, these early post war nickel examples are fairly rare. I know Elroy is happy. :dance:

Knew of some vintage firearms, but grandsons or auctions took them away. My uncle had an exceptional gun collection. After his passing, my cousin showed me his gun safe. I especially looked for the 1884 Winchester, and the Springfield saddle carbine, but he had traded them away in his last years. My cousins husband bought my dads double barrel 12 ga., but when I caught up with him years later he couldnt remember when it left his hands. Got enough firearms now, long and short, but if a Sharps rifle happens by, always wanted a .45-90 too.

Elroy holds both modern and antique. For Elroy a good condition vintage, would hold sway over most current models. Enjoy what you have, and do it often.

Growing up I was always an auto loader kind of guy 1911's mostly. Had a big Ruger 44mag but got rid of it. Then a few years back I was walking through the local gun emporium and a mid 80's S&W 686 just jumped in the truck for a ride home. Soon followed by an S&W Air weight . Xwife got off with it. :character0029:
Now I find myself looking for that Redhawk again. Kind of developed an appreciation of these simple, rugged revolvers.

I know what you mean about quality and simple design. I bought 7.5" barrel Redhawk back in '82 after firing a S&W Model 29. Even though the Model 29 was a more beautiful classic design, the Redhawk was a much beefier gun and thereby was a lot easier to shoot. Love that revolver and do go out and shoot it every few months. Even though my hands are starting to get some arthritis and losing their strength due to age, it's still fun to send a few high powered 44 magnum rounds down range.

Dayum -- that caliber with that barrel length requires a manly grip and a lot of intestinal fortitude to shoot. :cool2:

Elroy would suggest that visitors register, log on and view the nickel plate pornography. Considering that M&P is nearly 75 years old and in mint condition, you're dam skippy Elroy is happy. :-*
