Tubing cutters
« on: September 01, 2018, 04:36:42 PM »
Found this older Imperial tubing cutter at a 1/2 off estate tool sale today. Don't have one like it, and most of the ones I do have are compact models. Those are great for tight spots, but hard for these older hands of mine to crank. This one is a longer design that might afford me more leverage and less pain, though she needs a new wheel and serious cleaning/lubing. And it includes a de-burring blade incorporated into it.

No, the cutting wheel isn't supposed to be scalloped. ;D

And my favorite compact cutter.

Absolutely the best design, small overall turning radius, spare cutter stores underneath knob...and you can't get you palm skin pinched between the cutter and rollers! A forum member (think it was Ken W.) got it in a tool lot, and he agreed to sell it to me. Best $10 I'd spent in years!

About the only complaint is a lack of a de-burring blade, but - on a mini-compact - I don't expect it.
Upon seeing the manufacturer, I think I might have a couple of other Chicago Specialty tools. Hmm.

Poor photo but all I have now. It's the only one I've seen. Sure there are others out there.
Probably a regional piece.
