Crown top Craftsman love

Found these two boxes yesterday.  Also picked up several Craftsman wrenches and punches in like-new condition.  $40 for everything.

This was almost a year to the day when I found my SK hand box.

Same here. Is that a carpenter box?  I got a long SK that’s made for carpenters.

The shorter box looks just like mine which was purchased new in the late '70s.  Appears they only changed the logo.

Yes, I believe that's what those are called.  I've been looking for one for awhile and that's what attracted me to them.  The fact they're the Crown top was just a bonus.

This is mine, neighbor was throwing it out back in 1994.  First box I did a repaint on.

Most folks don't know what the cutout (if already punched out) is for on the carpenter boxes.

On the lid to the carpenters box, will be a small open cutout (or unopened tab for punching out) allowing a roofing square to be inside the box (long side) and have the shorter end protrude through the top when closing the lid.

Knew what the hole was for, didn't know there was a punch out blank there.

Can't see it on the box in question, so Lookin4, is it there?

Even the last years they made them they had the cut-out. My Cman carpenter box is red and I bought it like ten years before they folded here.
