Yeah i`m all for renewables but only when they are viable.
I agree but there is going to be a period in between when they aren't quite viable yet but are getting closer. And yes we are going to pay for that or at least a portion of it.
I really have no problem with .gov subsidizing new technologies to move them forward. The space program in the 60's was like that. Spent a ton of money to get to the moon but the technology filtered down to everyday life. It was a good long term investment.
Slip Knot, your energy system in Texas is a bit different then most and likely that causes at least part of your bill increase.
As to being forced to have 20% renewables, that sounds heavy handed but it reminds me of the car emissions laws of the 70's. There was a lot of pain involved in that, crap emission systems, car cost increases, loss of jobs because Detroit didn't get it right, but long term, the end result is much cleaner air, better quality cars, more efficient cars. Yes, in hindsight it could of and should of been handled better but it needed to be done and we all got through it.
Renewable energy will be the same.
