Hey everybody. Looking for some wisdom.
For the last year or so, I've been considering adding another welder to my home shop. My current welder is a Hobart 140, which I love and intend to keep even if I upgrade. The 140 will weld 1/4" steel (I've done 5/16" with good results), but I'd like something that will weld 3/8" or maybe up to 1/2" steel on occasion.
At work I use a Miller Multimatic 220 AC/DC Multiprocess. Its a great machine, but I don't really need TIG at home, and I don't want to spend $3000 on a welder either.
On my radar right now are the HTP Mig 2400, the ESAB Rebel 235 MIG only machine and the Hobart 230. It's looking like a new, Hobart 240 may be available soon?? Used welders around here tend to have asking prices that make them an unattractive option.
Anyhow, let me know what you guys think. I'm open to any color or brand at this point and I would consider a multiprocess at the right price. Thanks!!!
