Went to take a load of trash over to the recycling center today, and as I was unloading some items into the metal recycling section this old Black & Decker 1/2” drill was just lying on the ground - right behind the rear wheel of my truck. I almost drove over it.
It’s a nice old drill probably 1950s vintage - I already have its brother which is early 1960s. With nothing to loose I put it in the bed and drove home. I was expecting smoke, but it fired up just fine. I’m going to clean it up, rewire the split cord and add it to my BD collection.

Nice old relic.

Like an abandoned, stray puppy that walks up to you and his look says, "Save me!" :))
Nice find.

Nice save and much better than getting scrapped.

I hate to see people throwing things like this away, great save.

Those cord bend protectors (my just now made up name) are widely available on fleabay. Check the sizing before you buy, and dont expect them to be the same thickness as OE, but they do go far for tidying things up a bit where the cord enters.

Nice rescue, I'd have done the same!
