MAC boxes--what are they for?
« on: March 31, 2019, 04:14:29 PM »
Part of my auction clean up table were these two MAC metal boxes with only bolt and nut odds and ends.  What tools should they contain?  They are in good condition.

Is there a model number on them anywhere?
Is the need enough? Or does the want suffice?

Judging by the taper of the top slot, it looks like that's were a line of sockets would reside.

I agree with that, in that there were a couple of sockets in one and one was a mac.

Think I've found it in the '63 catalog.

I think they're supposed to contain my tools   ;)

Cool little boxes, I'll bet they probably contained a nice inclusive 1/4dr set, I could see one making a nice set with one of these.
You don't have to fill it with Mac tools of course.

Interesting though -- the ad parts list and the pic don't coincide. There 's no mention of any swivel sockets shown in the pic. Maybe it was part of an add-on or expansion set.

Yeah I was wondering about that so I went looking. Illustration matches the parts list in '62. I'm guessing they revised the set contents for '63 but didn't change the artwork, or "29 piece" description.

Did you-all note that both those pictures have the MAC tools on the inside and my boxes have it on the outside.
