Well yesterday didn't quite go as planned.
Early start for a two and a half hour drive to Kuratau School on the south west side of Lake Taupo for a fundraising trail ride.
One of our mate's had the job of bring the Polaris dealers six vehicles down.
Now the not quite to plan part... 4km into the 56km loop and it lost power then stopped. We suspect it has jumped the teeth on the cam chain and needs more than a new tensioner that we put in Friday.
Nathan, the Polaris National Service Manager, and who is in our offroad racing club, lent me their Ranger to do a lap with the warning "it doesn't have as much suspension as your RZR".
These have the single cam version of the RZR engine and are a puny 61hp. I still got it to do 80km/hr on a smooth paddock.
Most of the terrain was open paddocks with great views including Lake Taupo.
There were a few sections of bush including three stream crossings. I really missed the extra suspension travel on this section.
The track was on both sides of the highway and we used stock underpasses to cross.
Crossing Whakamaru Dam on the way home.
