Got my driver's license renewed today in advance of my 76th birthday next month.
The DL office here in our town closed some time ago, so I had to go to Texas City yesterday . That is the quickest place get this done but there was a line outside the door. I waited outside about 45 minutes, then another 25 inside, only to find out that I had to have an eye doctor confirm my vision ! I had interocular lenses placed in both eyes in 2016 and thought that was it. NO- They want me to check every year.
Went to the eye Dr this morning and he filled out the form after an eye exam. No need for eyeglasses.
Took the form back to the DL office and after another 30 minute wait in line, got everything done .
One reason I mention all this is because my uncle renewed his DL at 96 , but went back in 97 and turned it in. He said he didn't care to drive anymore and he had a 60 year old son to drive him where he wanted to go. Besides, he lived in Philadelphia and could use the train.
I hope to live as long as he did. He made 100 a couple of years ago, then died.
