Of course if you have this many classic aircraft they need their own themed tugs.

The 3/4 scale Mustang is powered by a Honda V6 3.5L car engine.

A couple of Boeing Stearman also live in the hanger.

I then headed over the harbour bridge to see what was happening around the airport. As I’m cruising passed the GA hangers, I see Marty who I know sitting in the sun outside talking to some young guys. I stopped to ask him if it was his Stearman that Peter had been flying last week. He confirmed it was. When I commented that he was game letting Peter fly his Stearman the reply from the other end of the bench was “F#$k you Justin”. I hadn’t seen Peter sitting there. So, I parked my ute and got out to catch up. Peter and I learnt to fly together in Gisborne in the late 90’s. He continued in aviation and is now a captain on ATR72 with Air New Zealand, while I stayed in engineering. He is heavily involved in the warbirds scene as well. He has recently shifted to Tauranga and this is the first time I’ve caught up with him.

Marty says have a look in the hanger. The last time I was in his hanger, about 12 years ago, there were two Stearman and two 3/4 scale Mustangs. His mate has sold his Mustang and Marty has bought a few more planes.

Crimson plane - NuWaco T-10, a “representation” of a 1928 Waco Taperwing powered by a Jacobs 7 cylinder 275hp radial with a constant speed propeller. It was built in 1982 in USA. He says it is very quick.

Blue plane - A 1935 (designed) Waco YMF, powered by a 300hp Jacobs 7 cylinder radial with a wooden fixed pitch propeller. It was built by Waco in 2012, they still build about seven a year.

On Saturday I took my lunch and went and sat down at the Bridge Marina to watch the world go by. Even though it is near the end of autumn/fall here it is still fairly mild (17C/63F). There was plenty going on with ships entering and leaving the harbour, a yacht race going on and power boats coming and going from the marina and boat ramp.

That's too bad.  I wonder if he's willing to sell or give it to someone else that will keep it current?
