My work today took me to Wichita. Fortunately we wrapped up early so I drove over to the Yard Store. I didn't have the time to visit both stores so I went to the store that had the scales I spoke of in my last post. I bought 1 6" 4r grooved scale, 2 12" grooved rules, and 1 24" grooved rule. All of them PEC brand. I paid $61.00 out the door. I was very tempted to also buy an 18" Mitutoyo 2nds, as well, but didn't.  That was darn cheap too. The 6" cost $8, the 12" cost $12.00 each, and the 24" cost $24.00. I will stop by their other location next time I am down that way, cool place.

The old 2005 Highlander needed new plugs, and while I was in there I decided to replace the coil connector plugs at the same time. These connectors are notorious for braking the hold down tabs. After many heat cycles these connectors get brittle and there no way to take them off the coil without damage. It's one of the few Toyota repair issues that crop up very frequently. The tabs on this car broke months ago, and even the old zip tie trick wouldn't work because the connector had crumbled in too many places.

Long story short, you have to remove the intake plenum in order to get to the rear cylinder bank plugs. There are many youTube vids out there that do a great job at explaining this procedure. I've posted several times on the GG on how I removed this plenum and the pitfalls that occur along the way.

To install a new plug. remove the white inner alignment clip. A small screwdriver inserted in the bottom slot and prying up will release the clip.

Then take a small screwdriver and insert underneath the lip of the individual push pin plugs and pry up; that releases the plug from the clip. In my case as soon as I pried up, the entire plug crumbled into pieces. Pretty much all of the plugs broke into pieces as soon as the little push pin plugs were pried on.

IMPORTANT!! Don't forget to take note of the wire color code to make sure you insert each pin plug back into the proper position on the new connector.

Take the new plug and insert each push pin plug back into its original position and listen for the "click" as each push pin plug is pushed home.
Insert the white alignment lock into the front of the new connector and it's a done deal.

The entire job -- spark plugs, new connectors, and reinstalling the plenum took about three hours. I took my time -- I'm an old guy.

This is the broken pile of connectors I had left -- the would literally break into dust if you touched them. Amazing that they held up this long -- 20 years.
The plugs looked very good, but there was some wear and the gap had increased. After 80K miles on these plugs, it was time.

Tomorrow I have to do the CAT on this car. Got the dreaded P0430 Bank 2 Efficiency code (it's a 3.3L V6), and no amount of CAT/Sensor cleaner will help this situation. Glad it's Bank 2 since it's right in the front of the car.

There was nothing wrong with the doors. Only took them off to make the refrigerator lighter and easier to maneuver. The only way to get the refrigerator out of the coach was to remove the four doors and passenger seat. Even then it would be a struggle going down the stairs. I put one of the two facing couches on top the other. Then with the slide out there was plenty of room to work on it inside the coach...

One camper told me the windshield was removed to get a home refrigerator in... No way was I going to do that!

I hope they haven't forgotten how to drive without guidance. There was a lot of years before autosteer or even rate controllers were a thing that farming went on. Although I don't envy the guy that has to cultivate a field planted the old way.

I know the two pedals on a bicycle crankset are different threads, but I always forget which side is reverse threaded.

Now I know:
Most pedals are labelled with an "L" or an "R". (That tells you which side of the bike they go on). But it also gives away the threading. "L" is left hand thread, "R" is normal thread.
If your pedals aren't marked - or you want a simple way to tell - when riding the bike, look down at the pedals. The "left" pedal (from your perspective) is left-hand threaded!

Read this morning how the solar flares have disrupted the gps self guiding system on late model John Deeres.  Right in planting season too.  Problems reported in Mn, Ia, and Nebr.   150K in machinery sitting still due to nature causing a compuer glitch.  Any reports in other parts of the country?  Wonder if this disrupted self driving Teslas?

A lot of work there.  Reinstall the original doors?  Had to remove the doors from my side by side to bring it inside.  Guess will have to do it again to get it out, unless I reduce its size with the Milwaukee Sawzall!

Nice work!

Finished the new cooler unit install for the motor home propane/electric refrigerator. It's been a journey for sure. I spent five full days total. Removing the refrigerator, taking the cooler unit off, installing the new cooler unit. Then picking up the refrigerator and sliding it into place. A chore in itself as it weights  220 pounds empty.

Back into place as good or better than new. The replacement manufacturer claims it more efficient than OEM..

Buttoning up the wiring and propane lines through the side panel on the outside the coach.

It's been running for four hours and the freezer temperature is 6 degrees F

The main box area is 52 degrees F. It's normal to take 12 hours to stabilize the whole box area...

I added this set of fans to help distribute the air around the cooling coils and stops condensation in the main box. That is made by the Amish company that make the replacement coolers.

I'm sure glad this project is finished....

Thanks for your thoughtful explanation. I have a lot of talents; but limited knowledge of computers and the internet. I am lucky to find the way to turn one on.. On the other I highly doubt that Al Gore invented the Internet as he claimed...
